Investing in Schools:
keep up investment in our primary and secondary schools in Castleknock, Carpenterstown and Blanchardstown to give our children the best start in life. Education is the best path out of recession. At a time of economic crisis it is even more crucial to improve and expand our schools and invest in Blanchardstown Institute of Technology.
Jobs and training:
promote job creation through public investment, more training places and support for local business. Investment in new school buildings and energy efficient homes through the national retrofitting initiative creates decent jobs. We also have to increase opportunities for job training to facilitate a successful return to the labour force for those who have lost their jobs.
Improving amenities for young people:
encouraging Council services to support sports clubs and youth organisations. We have to work with strong community organisations in offering better amenities for our young people.
Protect our environment:
improve the use of our local parks, canals and other amenities and preserve the priceless amenities in the Liffey Valley area. I will stand up for responsible planning to make sure there is no return to reckless development and major re-zonings.
Tackling litter and illegal dumping:
working with the Council to tackle litter and illegal dumping which has become an increased problem in many areas.
