With only two weeks to go until voting day, I'm busy meeting with local residents' associations and on the streets campaigning and meeting locals. It's a busy time but working with local communities is what I'm passionate about. As you will see from my background and recent blog posts, I have a key interest in education and schools and have enjoyed many visits to the primary and secondary schools in my local area.
Another area of focus is that of jobs. Fingal Council has a major role to play in attracting high quality jobs. – creating decent jobs based on a living wage has to be at the heart of everything we do.
Many of my recent meetings with local residents in the Castleknock and surrounding areas have focussed on the quality of the local environment and amenities. The Council works best in partnership with strong communities. Planning should be community-led with high quality amenities and protection of the environment. There should be no return to the reckless development which wrecked the economy under Fianna Fáil. I believe in working with local communities, sports clubs and residents’ associations to find constructive solutions to local problems.
I look forward to meeting with you on my campaign trail in the coming weeks and encourage you to get out and vote on the 23rd.
